Hien’s Efforts for Environmental Preservation

Eco-friendly Osadano Plant

Osadano Industrial Center
(No English site availed)

Osadano Industrial Park was built by Kyoto Prefecture in Fukuchiyama-city, Kyoto Prefecture on the purpose of industrial development in 1974. As its motto, “Eco-friendly Industrial Park” shows, Osadano Industrial Park, built to realize a pollution-free, environmentally conscious industrial park, ushers in a new green era. 41 factories including Osadano Factory operate in Osadano Industrial Park. We make continued efforts for environmental preservation.

To meet Strict Standards:
Prohibit the Use of Heavy Oil, Fulfill One-tenth of National Emission Standard

Osadano Plant

The followings are examples of the environmental approaches:

  • Under 50% of Building coverage ratio.
  • Ensure green areas and parks, in and out of the plant.
  • Prohibit the use of heavy oil as a heat source.
  • Fulfill one-tenth of national sulfur oxide emission standard.

We meet strict standards for building coverage and greening in line with the slogan of eco-friendly Osadano Industrial Park. In particular, we prohibit the use of heavy oil, which adversely affects environment, using only natural gas and electricity as heat sources. We supply natural gas for ourselves and have started utilizing electric power since the storage system was not in place. Moreover, sulfur oxide emission in Osadano Plant is one-tenth of the national standard. Despite extra costs incurred through theses efforts, our desire for eco-friendly production led us to locate our manufacturing base in Osadano Industrial Park.

Hien’s Unique Never-ending Environmental Efforts

We place the greatest importance on the reuse of resources in Hien Electric Industries’ Osadano Plant. The first to be introduced was the reuse of wooden drums, around which electric cables are coiled for shipping. Collection and reuse of the wooden drums, which would otherwise be disposed of as wastes, contribute not only to environmental preservation but also to cost reduction for customers.
Our future challenge is to minimize industrial wastes in production of marine electric cables. We will make continued efforts to realize waste-free and emission-free Factory.

Participation in local environment protection activities

We promote community-based approaches as part of our environmental efforts.
In the 21st century, often referred to as “the century for environmental protection,” the biggest challenge for us is to solve global environmental issues that threaten the survival of human beings, such as global warming and ozone depletion. We believe it is important to recognize environmental issues taking place near our plant as immediate problems, including degradation of forests and agricultural fields as well as contamination of Yura River, and make continued efforts for environmental sustainability. Hien Electric Industries participates in environmental exchange events for the public. Citizens, organizations, administration and local companies, all of which have a deep affection for Fukuchiyama-city, are working together to address environmental issues.
